Before any analysis can be done with MRI scans, image registration must be done. Patients can be in many positions when they get their scans. The heads may be slightly tilted or rotated. Image registration normalizes the dataset so that the skulls are somewhat aligned. Below we can see the third image aligned using SimpleElastix. The 2nd image was rotated and moved slightly. The first and third image should line up well.
